Allen Cylinders maximum bore

Post by jkimberln »

I am looking for cylinders with a bore of 2 3/4, stroke 3 3/16. Wonder if anyone has bored out an Allen mogul cylinder that far? I'm trying to avoid making a cylinder pattern. If not Allen, then has anyone else got a suitable cylinder for slide valves? No smoke box saddle required or desired.

There is not enough material in the Allen cylinder to go anywhere over a 2 1/4" bore.

I have a set of cylinders that may work for you with no saddle. I will look and see how big they are and let you know.

I went and checked out the set of cylinders that I have.
Unfortunately, they are bored to 2 1/4" and the overall length of the cylinders is 5 3/16". There is not enough material to bore them to the 2 3/4" you wanted. Sorry.

I have had these for several years. Maybe someone here will want them.

Everyone,

I have added a photo of these cylinders to this thread if anyone is interested. They come with cylinder heads and steam chest castings.

Morning JD, those look like marine or stationary cylinders, is that correct?
