No need for a drawing . Not impressed with the blower may het one like i had for redundancy.

Ya know I cant really find a blower and am going to take up where I left off. Going to try one if the angled pipe adapters earlier in the thread. Bill what do you have? Maybe snap a picture?

I have one of the grainger blower units described. I am away from home for a week and cannot take a picture right now but will do so this weekend.
Theae blowers move plenty of air. Two of them drive tbe coal furnace I use to heat my house. Tim just bought one for out Tom Thumb project and it does just fine.

With this type blower, how far does the smaller pipe, coming in from the side, extend up inside the larger pipe?

With this type blower, how far does the smaller pipe, coming in from the side, extend up inside the larger pipe?
On mine it doesn't stick inside at all; just grafted onto the side of the big pipe.

One thing not really discussed in this thread is the difference between propane and coal firing. With propane, not much draft is needed, just enough to clear the combustion gases from the firebox. On a large coal- burner, a lot of draft is needed to get a vigorous fire going to raise steam. I believe the smaller blowers may be inadequate for a large coal-burner.

as I mentioned (sorry I was not clear on this)…
the blower that I use on my locos (which are both propane and coal), I also use on my home furnace, which basically has an 8" x 10" grate covered in anthracite coal...and it makes plenty of blow to make things go...
now maybe PUSHING air vs. PULLING air may make a significant difference...

So that means you actually have a Sucker and not a Blower??
