one of the underlying problems is:
If you can only find the prototype on a site like this...then there is a very strong probability that it was a dud from the get go...and what is the point of making a model of a dodo bird?

Too many things going on to bother listing them.

Might be difficult to get drawings for a hypothetical locomotive!

I dunno. I haven't had a drink in over 10 years, but I used to really like Guinness Stout. Those little buggers ran for over 60 years. Some of the others, yup, total failures.Bill Shields wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 7:27 pm one of the underlying problems is:

Here is a neat "Odd" geared standard gauge locomotive I thought about over the years - this is the "Hayward" it was built by the Vulcan Iron Works in San Francisco in 1867 and used for a good number of years on the railroad servicing the Black Diamond Mines on Mnt. Diablo
In operation the loaded coal cars were coasted down to the terminal at New York Landing with the locomotive pushing the empties back-up.
The bottom photo was taken in West Oakland at the Pacific Iron & Nail Scrapyard circa 1900.
