Valve Passage Core Box Plug
Valve Passage Core Box Plug
Hi All,
I'm trying to figure out the best way to build up a new parting line to mold this odd shaped core plug into the core box for the steam passageways on a pair of loco cylinders. As always any input is greatly appreciated .

Re: Valve Passage Core Box Plug
I think a corebox that is in sections will work.

Thanks Ti,
I should I set up the plug vertically and do 3-4 sections vertically with repro plastic? I tried to set things up horizontally at first, making a clay parting line that split the thickness in half, but I couldn't convince myself that I would be free of undercuts

Is This the passage ways between the valve bore and the main piston bore?

Hi Dave,
Sounds good. I've been looking at the plug and I think I'll be ok if I bed it down to the midway point and pour the repro that way. If there's any doubt, I guess I can always add a 3rd/multiple layer

Hoppercar,
Those look nice. I decided to go the route of making the positive plug and pouring the negative box to get away from all of the carving/fitting of a segmented corebox
