Lubricator

Post by Steven E. Kuhn »

Does anybody know a supplier of ratchet type lubricators that use a paw and gear? Had it with the crappy clutch type.

Thank you,

LocoParts redesigned their Lubricators. They now feature Wire EDM and hardened Ratchet wheels and paws. I also features adjustable viton seals on the Pump rams to give longevity for the Pumps instead of relying on viscosity of oil to seal the rams, like most other lubricators on the market. If you have an old LocoParts Lubricator you can send it to me and I can upgrade with new pump body and new ratchet drive instead of buying a whole new lubricator.

I replaced a clutch lubricator with a LocoParts ratchet wheel and paws style. Works nice.

In the interest of not perpetuating an improper term, the word used in this instance is pawl, not paw.

Yes, a misspelled word is no longer that word.

The problem I have seen is that the shaft under the clutch wears, and then it doesn’t work reliably.

The shaft needs to be hardened. Not just drill rod but hardened drill rod. I am sure they spec a hardness.
