Legging?
Isn't the proper term lagging?
No, I'm not trying to be the "word cop". Just hoping to either verify the proper term, or prevent the use of improper terms. It's better for all concerned.

So then, those who know, please speak up.

According to the dictionary...

Legging - a covering for the leg, usually extending from the ankle to the knee but sometimes higher, worn by soldiers, riders, workers, etc.

Lagging - the act of covering a boiler, oil tank, etc., with heat-insulating material.

Lagging has other meanings as a noun and, of course, entirely different meanings as a verb, but the two above are relevant to the discussion.

Indeed! Very attractive.
How thick are the wood strips, and how are they assembled?
Beautiful job of installation.

Wood strips are 0.150" thick oak by 1/2" wide. Edges were beveled 12 1/2 degrees to give tight seams. I sawed and planned them from some scrap oak flooring. Held on with 1/"4" by 0.030 thick brass bands and a little brass bracket at front of fire box on the left side that clamped under one of the bands. I used some double sided carpet tape as an assembly aid.

Thanks. Sounds like a lot of work, but well worth the time invested. Amazing job of making the seams invisible.

In favor of making future searches successful, I have renamed the Subject to lagging.

Thanks Harold for the correction.

I was surprised how easy and quickly it went. Spent a couple mornings cutting and planning the wood strips. One day cutting and fitting the strips, one day making and attaching the brass bands. A couple hours staining and finishing. A Dremal tool with 1/2" sanding drum made for quick and easy notching the wood strips to fit around bosses and tabs on the boiler.
