Post by Emfinger »

I can't seem to locate a vendor of brass strap..5/8" wide, 025" - .032 thick, 30" long.

Any help?
Thank you

Brass is easily sheared...McMaster-Carr - raw materials - metals - brass/copper then make your choice.

This is the reply from McMaster-Carr they don't have anything close.
But thanks for the tip.

Hi Tom,
We have brass strips in those thicknesses, but not the exact dimensions. I've linked our closest options here.

Go to https://classic.onlinemetals.com They will cut it to the size you need.

Sorry, looks like you needed the precise size. Usually a given thickness sheet is ordered and the exact width you need would be sheared or snipped from it. These suppliers can provide the shearing service but will charge exorbitant prices for the over and above their normal stock sizes. You will pay for a sheet anyhow...

Sorry, I have surfed for hours........no one offered "cut to size" Most model material starts and ends at 12".....

Good thing I have a shier! I just ordered 1" x .031 x 36" for dirt, I get 5 strips delivered for under $40..Not bad.

Thicker and wider than I wanted...but I'll shier it..

Now you're talking! Good going - shear it yourself. Way to go!

I found some thick brass, surplus door kick panels and cut them into strips on my bandsaw.

Here’s a link to a video discussing them: https://youtu.be/cvEAuYiQZjU

Hope that helps!
