A.J.Huber Locomotive

Post by jscarmozza »

In yesterday's mail I got a package containing a tee shirt with the patent drawings for the A.J.Huber Locomotive printed on it. I have no idea who sent it to me but it's an interesting engine, on the order of a Climax but with chain drives instead of gears. Does anyone know if that design was ever produced? It looks like it could make pretty cool and relatively simple project. The one thing I can't grasp is the drive rod connection to the flywheel, can anyone explain how a drive rod may connect to a truck that pivots? My guess is some type of ball and socket trunnion on the flywheel with a splined slide on the rod to allow it to change length. If it was never put into production, this may be the reason why. You can google A.J.Huber Locomotive, all I was able to find was what was on the tee shirt, but someone out there in the steam engine world may know a lot more about it, I'd like to hear back with any thoughts or additional information. Thanks, John
