Source for flexible coil wire insulation?

Post by Yak18pilot »

Hello;
I have some wire coil insulation for electrical wires (in the photo below) on my 1.5" scale 4-6-0. The wire coil is 0.125" OD with about 0.050" ID. Does anyone know a source for this material?
Thanks in advance!

Yak...that must be some small wiring to get (2) insulated conductors inside. To me, looks like small diameter spring. Can let your fingers do the shopping on Ebay or try McMaster Carr.

If you are trying to emulate conduit, contact http://www.kientec.com/ They make conduit down to 1.2mm ID. I've used the 3/16 and 1/4 OD.

You can take the springs out of the inside of old seals and use that too. Old engine/transmission seals have very similar sized springs in them, so if you have a bunch of old junk lying around, like on the farm, or some old seals from some work you did on something, then take those out and save them.
