Seeking Info on Penberthy Injector 1/2" AA 21
We are seeking the specific measurements to make a replacement steam input jet for a Penberthy injector.
It is a rare 1/2" size, stamped AA 21, Serial Number 12020 10
See the two photos below. The jet in question is labeled "R", so you can see how it fits in the injector.
Rumor is that each jet was custom made for the specific seriel # injector. Hmmm...
We found the images below online at Emerson Corp., but can't get any response from them to learn if they still make and offer Penberthy injectors.
Does anyone have information about their availability?
Again we seek the dimensions of the jet to make a new one. The one in our injector was a guess at replacement, and it does not work. Long story...
Anthony Duarte was kind enough to speak with me about this, and it is clear he is far too busy meeting our hobby needs to work on this injector for us.
We totally understand, and applaud his efforts. Thank you for your time.
So... can anyone help us?
Thanks

Hello Russ, I stumbled upon this site a few years ago. They have a lot of injector and Penberthy information. They say they sell parts and can custom make parts. Here are a few links to the site.

Emerson bought Penberthy, moved the business to Texas and apparently left any knowledge about injectors back in Prophetstown, IL.
A Penberthy AA 21 is a standard injector designed to work on boiler pressure from 80 -250 PSI.
Penberthy injectors were made in three different pressure ranges. Each pressure range used different cones. I do not know if the injector bodies were different as well.
You might contact some of the steam tractor groups, someone may be making replacement cones. Smokestack is one Internet group that may help.

And now to add insult to injury, Emerson has officially discontinued production of Penberthy products.Howard Gorin wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 2:41 am Emerson bought Penberthy, moved the business to Texas and apparently left any knowledge about injectors back in Prophetstown, IL.

Thank you Howard and Anthony for your additional information.
I will share my search results here.

Hey, there's a business opportunity there, Anthony, since you don't have anything to do with your spare time.....

Most interesting!
Penberthy made other steam related products besides injectors.
Great management thinking, first spend money to purchase a company.
Then spend more money to relocate the company.
Then close the company.
Another example of rectile cranial inversion.
This is what MBA's are paid well to do.

An email exchange with a company that represents Penberthy indicates that Penberthy is still in business.
I am trying to confirm that Penberthy still make injectors.
From the experience that a friend who works for a tourist rail road, Penberthy can make an injector.
Penberthy can not necessarily make a working injector.

They may still be making certain penberthy products but I know for a fact they are no longer making injectors. They sent an official statement to one of my customers, and have had a few companies email me asking for help since they can no longer buy injectors from Emerson.Howard Gorin wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 7:16 pm An email exchange with a company that represents Penberthy indicates that Penberthy is still in business.
