Paper dolls

Post by makinsmoke »

I don’t know how Jack does it.

I drilled, tapped, and installed eight 00-90 brass screws yesterday in a brass bit I was working on.

I was ready for the funny farm after just these eight!

Hello My Friends
Thank you makinsmoke. I think the Hunter Thompson quote may apply in my case. Actually once you deal with this little baloney it doesn't seem so small. #00-90 used to seem miroscopic to me, now it's still a very small size so, make sure you use the the right tap drill. If the hole is very deep make sure to back out the tap and blow out the chips often. Use good cutting oil and as soon as the tap starts to get dull, throw it away or grind the end off and make a bottoming tap. Hunter S Thompson...

Hi Jack!
Never say that on a plane!

I was drilling and tapping two soldered sheets of .010 brass. I used the Kadee kit with tap, tap drill, and clear drill. I never thought about fluid. Stupid me.

But I did turn, stop, and back out I don’t know how many times, cleaning the cutting edges terrified I’d twist that itsy sucker off!

Something this small, in brass, what do you use for cutting fluid?

Thanks,
Brian

Hello My Friends
I use any tapping fluid that is laying around. I think Tapmatic is what I bought last time.
