Challenger tender photos

Post by Chris Hollands »

As requested by a few people I finally worked out how to put photos onto this site.the brakes and suspension are prototype with inexcess of 2000 individual components nuts bolts pins bushes etc, and then I bought a do it your self nickel plating kit to keep rust at bay and plated the componets ,all pins ,nuts bolts and screws are stainless.
You would have to have rocks in your head to do this but the more detail you do its like a diease the more detail you want to do.

Chris

Beautiful work !

I under stand exactly your meaning about the detail. I experienced this with the 1361

I had to have every detail that the prototype had. God forbid if I missed something. I would redo it. I think I spent an additional two years just on detailing it.

In the long run you will have a beautiful museum quality locomotive.

Pleases post more pictures of the progress.

Chris,

Seriously Dude...... That is just dandy!!! I sure hope the detail bug bites me hard on my next project..... It's really tempting but I hope I can stick with it!!! It's going to be a long, hard, but fun road ahead. Projects like this are very good for motivation!

Thanks for sharing,

How did the DIY nickel plating work out? Did you use electroless or the standard method?
