Indications are that titanium dioxide has replaced lead as a pigment in paints. I've not heard anything to indicate it would be a substitute for lubrication needs.
We're very "fortunate" to have our government rule and regulate almost everything one can imagine. Won't be long until we are fully paralyzed, unable to do anything at all. But then I must stop, as I'm violating our no political discussions policy.

coming from someone who worked for a manufacturer of TiO2 (titanium dioxide) I can tell you that it isn't worth a hoot as a lubricant... It is VERY ABRASIVE...but it is in any non-brown paper and is a (as Harold says) the basis for almost all paint pigment.
However it is also used in many of the foods we all consume...some cheeses and many of the 'coffee creamers' -> used to prevent clumping...as well as soap and tooth-paste (think about abrasive....)
I about tossed my lunch when I found it on a label..knowing what goes into making it and whatnot...not exactly a sanitary process by any means.

Magnesium hydroxide is pretty much insoluble in water.

Magnesium hydroxide has a Mohs hardness of about 2.5. That's about the same as copper.

Looking around on the web, I saw that people have posted methods of making white lead. Some involve a lot of horse manure, much like the production of overzealous government regulations.
Not really sure I need it, but Ebay seems to have me covered.
I must say it's disconcerting to see how many of the people selling collectible Dutch Boy white lead cans have utterly failed to clean them out properly and dispose of the harmful contents. That's just careless.
I just read that toothpaste tubes were made from tin and lead until World War II. Hitler saved us all from lead poisoning.
