Kimball McGinley wrote:I hope that solid block works for you. I made a G-scale steamer with a hunk of aluminum for a cradle; the steam passages were drilled into it. All that ever came out was water, all that metal sucked out all the heat! One WAG suggested building a fire under both ends of the boiler!
Kimball, I'm not concerned about that, that center section has a lot more machine work to be done on it, and should be a lot lighter when it's done...
Andy/Paul, I'm planning on it, but I think it's the weekend before the TCA show and I'll be there for that. I don't know if I want to make that trip two weekends in a row... But we'll see..

Just finished up the front end, and here's a pic... The loco now has a face... Still need to add the door hinges, and after that it will be onto the tank next....

Yeah, I actually made two of those number plates, I was gonna see if the wife wanted to maybe wear one as a pin whenever we were at the club or a meet somewhere, then I thought about it and changed my mind.....

Had an "urge" to do some more work on the B&O Docksider.. I had made the bulkheads for the tank some time ago, and decided to put everything together.. Still a long way to go, but for now I'm enjoying working on this loco again...

Still working on the tank, the inner wrapper is soldered, and here I'm cutting two holes that will allow the smokestack and water fill plug to pass through the inner and outer wrappers...
