Post by H&NERY »

I am looking for Ideas on how to build a portable elevated track for 3 1/2 inch gauge. Does anyone have any ideas?

The highline that the Iowa Model Steam Engineers has would work for a portable track. We purchased the left over from the St Croix live steamers.

There is a write up in the Best of Live Steam volume 1.

Here is a photo of part of the 250-foot long portable track that GGLS built in 1955 for the big Model Engineering Show they sponsored in the Oakland Auditorium (CA). As you can see, it was multi-gauge the same as they have in the Park. 2 1/2, 3 1/2 and 4 3/4 inch gauges.

Hope the photo gives you a good enough idea.
