making a coal load

Post by Steampipe »

Hello list - I have completed my MCC hopper and fabricated a false top for a coal load. My question is what is the best glueing solution to use to pour over the load once it is "styled'. Other than diluted white glue is there a good product on the market that is fast setting, durable as well as transparent?

Pat, I bet PVC - E glue would work fine, you probably have some around the shop too!

yes, but does he have a gallon bucket of it? That's a lot of keys..

Clear epoxy resin will work -> look to a marine supplier.

probably not as cheap as white glue, but may hold better if deck is twisted.
Too many things going on to bother listing them.

I bet Pat does have a bucket of it! I know for my pipe organ project I have PVC-E, Fish glue and hot hide glue that I buy 10 lbs. at a time. And I'm just working on one little pipe organ....

Keith- great idea!! I hate the stuff for professional projects as you cannot easily remove the stuff once it sets. For relethering that's bad. For setting coal- sounds great!! and I can get gallens
