Beautiful.

What are you using to get from SolidWorks to G-Code?

Old Van, I use a product called freemill, not too bad for free.
Here are the emblems finished.

Kevin, those look very nice!

FWIW, I made a stamp with raised letters and I'd never do that for a nameplate. I had to do a lot of nudging around of the letters to get sufficient clearance between them for the 1/16" EM. Doing the letters as pockets as you did lets you retain the proper spacing between them. The drawback is an EM won't give you sharp internal corners.

cheers,
Michael

A 1/16" EM can give nice results in a single-stroke font that is 1/2" tall, but this project didn't use a fancy font that needed sharp internal corners to look good:

Thanks for the kind words guys. Michael, those gauges look very neat. Was that stick font from autocad? I have a program called deskengrave that does one line at a time. My freemill will only raster in x or y so no single line fonts for me just yet.

You can get some single stroke TTFs from:

http://featurecam.com/general/support/engrave_fonts.asp

http://www.cambam.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=1557.0

on the gauge I used Machine Tool Gothic Italic. I used RhinoCam (Visual Mill) to do the gauge.

cheers,
Michael

Kevin,

Those badges are sweet.

Do you project the numbers with the software
or form the dimples?

Mike yours are nice too. Really clean looking job.

Kap, I create a plane a few mm above the solid and create the test on that. I then "cut" the sketch on a surface that is .5mm below the top surface of the solid, this way my letter cut bottom is contoured the same as the top of the tag. It is very friendly cutting that way.

Recent creations on the tmc-1000
Wheel centers for my gmc suv. I got tired of the Chevy symbols on my winter rims. These are the first pieces to have 2 set-ups. The bottoms are hollowed out and are tapped 1/4-20 for fastening to the rims.
