Odd question...

Post by daved20319 »

My step-son is building a desk-top CNC machine primarily for doing circuit boards. But one of the other things he wants to do with it is plotting something to do with magnetic force, and would need a program that would move a probe around, but at each point, stop the probe and trigger and record the reading from a Gauss meter. Can Mach3 or one of the other similar programs be configured to trigger this sort of scenario? Sorry if this isn't terribly clear, but I'm trying to explain something that I don't really understand :-). Thanks for any help.

Yes.

My homebrew CNC router powers up the spindle under program control, the output could as easily be used to trigger a data logger.

Not sure but I think Mach has a "trace" function that does just that or maybe you have to move the probe manually then trigger it..
