Welcome Beta Testers!

Post by Marty_Escarcega »

Hey guys, I appreciate your input to the new site. I have asked several of you "regulars" to test the site. Give comments about the feel. Discuss the "Forums" or topics. There are several reasons for the upgrade here are some of them:
1) Consolidate several forums. Chaski HSM, CNC, Live Steam
2) Speed up the message base
3) Better and easier maintenance
4) Better more reliable search engine
5) Better control
6) Ability to have multiple moderators, one for each forum
7) Easier enhancements to the site. One of which I hope will be easier photo posting for the users. (They are working on this now)
8) Ability to segregate topics. User's will be able find their threads without having to "dig" or scroll down the page

Thanks guys!

Initial impression is "GREAT". I wasn't a huge fan of the old software, finding topics was very cumbersome. So far, so good!

OOPS! First Bug?? I tried changing the "anonymous" user name to my user name "gglines" and it said that name was in use and wouldn't allow me to post.

George, go to My Home at the top of the page and change your password to something you will remember or like. Log in and check the "Remember..." box. This way you don't have to live with the password sent to you.

Hey Marty,
So far this is really cool! It will take a little time to get to know the functions, but I can clearly see this is a huge step above the other system.

I was a little confused how I got the name Chip Sweeper until I noticed we're all related! :-)

Trust me to start a redundant thread of my own. I wasn't smart enough to figure out the procedure, but it didn't take too much time after I started looking.

Time for supper, will be back later.

Well, as we post more and more we'll graduate through the ranks from Chip Sweeper on up. :-)

Keep at it, play with it. Don't be afraid to test the waters. This is what Beta Testing is about. Errors will be made. You won't break anything.

BTW I have invited about 6 or so regulars from the old site to try things out here.
Signing off for tonight.
Thanks guys!

I guess you answered the chip sweeper question.
I am not sure of "when" the post is sent or submited.
"continue" does not fill that standard

Yes , Marty, you need a warning about it posting when you hit "continue"
FYI
I do not want to preview my post before it is posted .
I am however previewing this time to check.....
OK it works fine and the text says that "continue" on this page will post the text !

( but main page does not)

Hi Marty - looks pretty cool. One thing I kinda miss already is the ability to quickly llok over a topic via the "indented" system. I guess I like seeign who wrote what(via the title) and who responded. - Probably just the 'difficluties" in letting go of what's already familiar :(

It wouldn't let me post under my registered name prevoiusly (392 hemi post) - Still won't here either - I get a message to the effect that someone else has already registered this name.
Probably just me goofing up

I see the editing feature - MAJOR benefit to the poor typers such as myself!
