Souped up Taig Lathe

Post by Hank.W.E »

Here's a photo of my little taig lathe. These little American made machines are fantastic. I added some goodies to mine:
- riser block
- powerfeed
- dial indicator adjustible holders and touches
- 40, 50 & 60 hole index plate
- drip tray and splash plate (with engine turned finish)
- seperate motor mount for quick speed changes.

I also did some extensive lapping of the lathe way and carriage for ultra smooth, and tight operation.

I have several more pictures, but we'll start with one or two.
thanks for looking!
Hank

I like your set up, I really like the "chip pan" that you have under the lathe. Did you make it, or was it a baking sheet or something?

I have my small Sherline equipment mounted on wood planks (stairway step boards) that have rubber feet. But I feel that the well executed metal chip pan would help contain the chips and oil better than my wood planks? But in defense of the wood and rubber feet, it does hold down vibrations alot.....

Any way....nice set up ;)

Thanks for the nice comments. I'm looking forward to Getting it dirty;-). CM, I used a cookie sheet I bought at a restaurant supply store. I could have used an old one from our kitchen, but the new one is shiny :-)
