I bought an import twin from J&L several years ago and it has been fine for the limited use I give it. Use it mostly with 20 ga. and occasionally with 19ga. cold roll sheet.

There look to be several knockoffs of the Tennsmith design. (Now I'm not 100% sure Tennsmith didn't copy someone else's but I haven't seen any other USA models like it).

Having bought the Tennsmith new on a pretty good sale, it is a fine machine, I suspect that the imports are going to be decent for light work too and easier on the wallet. I've used it mostly for 16ga steel and 16ga copper on which it will do just fine.

Without getting too high up on the soapbox I felt better about putting the money back into the hands of my fellow Americans, although I respect the freedom of choice to buy whatever suits at the same time.
