I have the 1956 edition. I doubt that they changed much.

For most of what we are doing at the level at which we are doing it (not quality, but quantity - we aren't production shops) the older versions of HTRAL are probably adequate.johnfreese wrote:I have the 1956 edition. I doubt that they changed much.
They won't cover carbide inserts, but the operation of the lathe is pretty much the same.

I have founf that online versions of machining texts from the early 20th century pretty helpful. They show machine setups you will never find a modern shop.
