Re: Regauging a 7 1/4" Minnie Project
Got the brake rigging finished and assembled. Still need to make the actuation lever assembly that goes in the cab. A lot parts to with all the equalizing linkages. Going to put of designing and building the actuating lever for now, since it can be done after installing the boiler.
On to the axle pump next. Trying to get all the chassis stuff that is hard to get to with the boiler on done. Still got make ash pan and great supports, spring retainers and a draw bar pocket as well. The to do list just keeps growing.

Finished making and installing the axle pump. Basically an Allen Models Mogal pump that mounts thru the saddle. I did leave the hex full height on the head caps. This allows the top check ball to be serviced from above the front deck, and makes getting a wrench on the bottom hex easy.
I single point cut the male threads on the lathe for the 1" housing and the end caps. Time consuming due to have an old lathe with change gears, but they came out nice. I have never had much success die cutting large diameter threads.

Been working away this last month, but been lacy about posting the progress. Got the boiler and jacket on, some of the piping work, water glass, pressure gage, throttle valve, lubrucator, bell and domes fitted. Still a lot of piping to be finish.

Looking good.
Be sure to use only black iron pipe fittings on pressure fittings. It looks like there are galvanized pipe and T between the boiler and the fountain.
Galvanized is considered not safe for steam operation.

Yes, stainless steel pipe fittings rated for the temperature and pressure.

I really like that diamond stack. How'd you fab that?

The stack is an aluminum casting that came with the project. Exterior and bore for the petticoat pipe are machined.
