CNC Plasma Cut Vintage Motorcycles

Post by c7z06 »

I cut the following bikes from 11 gauge (1/8") steel with my home made CNC plasma table. I put as much detail into the 19" long figures as possible, keeping at least .150" between interior parts and lines.

BSA Gold Star, Vincent Black Shadow, Matchless 500 single, Ariel Square four, Triumph Bonneville TT Special, Norton Commando, Indian Chief (USA), and early Triumph Thunderbird.

The last two pictures are the Triumph Thunderbird and Indian with a little paint..

I am not selling these. This is just for fun.

very nice to look at...appreciate the craftsmanship.

Brings back memories of enjoying riding the Vincent ...not trying to stop -> just RIDING!

then I kept shifting my Norton when I was intending to brake....and the occasional 'shut my engine off' instead of blowing the horn at an idiot cutting me off....

don't get me started on the Royal Enfield with the throttle on the wrong side of the handlebars....

Shortly thereafter I gave up on British cycles and went all German instead of part-time.
Too many things going on to bother listing them.

In my experience, the magnetos generally worked even if the lights (& light switches) didn't. I guess that's why I never rode after dark.

Very nice work. I am not knowledgeable about CNCs, so I'm probably asking a dumb question; but here goes... can your program be transferred to a different CNC machine?

At the most basic level coordinates are coordinates....it all started as assembler.

There tend to be machine specific codes that may not exactly transfer...but they are insignificant

The dxf files created by the drawing program (in this case CorelDraw) are standard AutoCad format. Most CNC systems capable of converting dxf to G-code should be able to digest them.
