re: fire box. This is a "Dry Leg" boiler. The separate fire box (6") is in photo above (July post) The fire box is designed so I can use propane as described above, and I will also fab an ash box as described in book. I am going to cut a 7" dia hole in bed, and use a "drop in plate" that is same size as the firebox id. (8"), and will have a square cut out for ash pan when using coal. This drop in plate will also have provision for the grate. I don't know how long a dry leg fire box will last but I have a second one on the shelf. When using propane, the burners are in the 7" cutout.

any one have info about a reference book or "How to" article on rolling copper tubes - not really obvious to someone new at this. Can't find much so far on forum. Thanks

There is a lot of information out there. Look for expanding or rolling tubes into a heat exchanger.

I was wondering about the firebox construction.

Briggs type of fireboxes hold up quite well. They are not all that common, but do work well when properly executed.

Strongly suggest that when you are burning coal that you come up with a way to keep the coal from actually contacting the firebox wall, as you can generate temperatures high enough to melt steel....

This is not so much an issue with propane.
Too many things going on to bother listing them.

Before rolling tubes in Boiler, I made a test fixture to test my Rolling to 200PSI
Worked great, Sealant also works great on pump
