Endmill storage/shipping sleeves

Post by VelocityDuck »

I'm working on an idea for storing endmills in my rather space limited shop.

Does anyone know if there is a source for the plastic sleeves that endmills and taps come in?

I drill holes in 2x4s (the wide side) and stand them up, in what is now a carrier for end mills ( or drills / taps ,/ whatever)

You could glue a bunch of these tubes into a matrix and do the same thing

This company has tubes with the end molded on

Too many things going on to bother listing them.

I loved McMaster when I was living near Chicago. If it was a small order, I could just drive over and pick it up rather than pay the same amount in shipping as the items purchased.

No option for that here in the Florida panhandle. $24 in these tubes and $16 in shipping stings. I'll just have to wait until I'm ordering some other stuff. :(

The plant I used to work in threw out a drum full of all sizes and kinds every month or two. If there are any CNC machining companies in your area you might try and see if they will let you scrounge through what they have. They may not all be clear or the same size but it sure beats buying.
