Information Needed re: Hit and Miss engine

Post by feranaja »

HI everyone,

I am looking to gather some information regarding the range of values for some hit and miss engines, which I recently inherited from my father's estate. I have several in my possession and am just in the process of learning more about what they may be worth.
The ones I have are as follows:

1) Fairbanks Morse Co., 3 horsepower, 450 rpm, excellent condition

2) Goold, Shapely and Muir, 2 1/2 horsepower, 400 rpm, no. 9117, excellent condition

3) Bean Special "Cub" Engine no. A11171, Model R20B, 3 hp, 800 rpm, the Cushman Motorworks, Lincoln Nebraska, excellent condition

Thank you in advance, feranaja

I can't provide specific info, but here is a site that has auction reports over several years that may give you some idea.

Assuming the 3hp FM is a Z, and the GSM is also a common engine, I'd say $1000 for the 3 engines is a reasonable price.
