Question please...
If I have laser-cut parts, then these will a black slag-like substance on the edges. This stuff is hard and brittle. Do I have to file/grind this material off, before I can apply primer for painting? Of is it safe to assume, that the oxide layer is OK as a base for paint?
Thanks
Johannes

Paint
At work - we used to have those parts painted without removal of the "slag" - never had any problems other than it did look a little goofy at times (thicker plates). Really looked bad when the parts were gold zinc plated - I never understood why we accepted them.
I suppose under certain circumstances the "slag" could be more easily chipped off than paint would be - about the only functional negative I can really think of.
