Started on the tender bolsters and pins.
Bolster plate is 3/8×3 20 inches long. Found center drilled 1/4" then dropped the chuck and inserted a MT3 1"drill . The size was chosen because of the center hole in the table.

Glad to see the use of hot rolled steel. I’ve been having good luck with the hot rolled variety. With cold rolled flat stock I was getting distortion. My plans have “C.R.” in the parts tables so using hot rolled makes me feel like I’m a penny pincher.

Hi Bushav
Hot rolled is fine for general work in my opinion. Jim

I'm not a welder nor a machinist but I play them on chaski.
Ody i find if you keep it clamped till it cools works on keeping the warping to a minimum. Jim

Would doing it TIG vs MIG have any effect on warping? I'd think MIG would be the go to for this sort of thing and would be choice for a car frame etc.

I don't have a tig but maybe in the future. I welded it with my mig. It is a 250 amp hobart. This thing will get hot . Jim
