unusual milling
So much for a pristine environment. Saw a bank of these going sculptures in a marble quarry in Italy last month; they get hosed down periodically to control dust. Need a large copy of a sculpture? Run once to digitize, then run again to make as many copies as needed. When they are running, the doors are closed to control dust.

Reason: Photo Orientation
Reason: Photo Orientation
Re: unusual milling
Oriented as pictured, keeps the swarf off the work preventing damage to the surface finish. {;-)>

Re: unusual milling
Easier to copy by laser scanning...that way you do not necessarily have to transport the original.
Conversion of the point cloud scan to a CAM program is pretty straightforward these days.
If you think this is messy, you should see one of these robots wielding a sharp knife -> butchering sheep

Too many things going on to bother listing them.
Re: unusual milling
The previous photo orientations made you think about it more.
Thank you for turning them upright.

Re: unusual milling
yes, thanks for turning them. They are correct in the computer, but I could not find the rotate after inserting.
Re: unusual milling
Picture orientation has been and continues to be a problem with the software that runs this board. Nobody has been able to solve it completely, but there are some hints described here that have worked for some folks. Maybe something there will help you.Russ Hanscom wrote: ↑Wed Oct 05, 2022 8:19 am yes, thanks for turning them. They are correct in the computer, but I could not find the rotate after inserting.

Re: unusual milling
Skilled people being replaced by robots...
When I bought some semi-old furniture, I checked to see that the repeating carved pattern wasn't exactly the same at each repeat.
I first saw a wood carving robot about 25 years ago at a trade show.

OR robots doing things that people are no longer interested in doing at the prevailing price point.
