Who makes "snap on-off" valves?
One of our club engines has two valves that run the injectors that under pressure only have two positions that the lever snaps into (on and off) .
I have not been able to find these anywhere or even know what to call them. Any help would be appreciated.

Injector starting valves. Super Scale has them. Loco Parts has a different style in the works.

Here are some too:

I think Eccentric Engineer and Locoparts ( from Mercer?) also make them but don't believe either are in stock

Wow.. Was not expecting it to cost as much as an injector. Looks like It will be worth waiting for Locoparts to make some or to try to make my own. Thanks for giving me a name. Never would have thought they were a valve specific to the injectors

these valves are great and commonly used:
https://godshallscustommachining.com/co ... -valve-mtp - this is a little different but work great as an injector starting valve inside the cab.

Thanks. I was looking at those quarter turns as well. Next time I’m at the track I’ll take a picture of what it currently has. It’s such a simple look to it that I really like.

You can get those from Wayne at American Model Engineering.

Personally I would highly recommend a 1/4 turn valve over a quick on/off valve. They are just as fast to operate, but can still be cracked open which helps with priming in less desirable scenarios, like a leaky check valve or hot feedwater.

Will EE have the injector starting valves in stock any time soon?

Re: Who makes "snap on-off" valves?
I’ll second this! I have a pair of Anthony’s injectors mounted in the lifting position on my shay, originally I had them on quick on-off valves but the valves themselves were quite fussy and if the injectors got warm it was a fight to get them to start. I now have them on American Model ball valves and I can easily prime and start the injectors even when the weather is hotter than I want to run in. Since I changed starting valves I have had no issues getting my injectors to start, except when I run the tank dry!AnthonyDuarte wrote: ↑Sat May 06, 2023 12:58 am Personally I would highly recommend a 1/4 turn valve over a quick on/off valve. Re: Who makes "snap on-off" valves?
I hope to make more sooner rather than later. My plate is pretty full at the moment though!
I will also be looking into making a 1/4 turn injector starting globe valve to go along with the globe valve project. It would be a standard globe valve with a modified valve nose and triple lead thread. Bonnet would also be modified to limit the travel to 1/4 turn, which with the triple lead thread would still be plenty of movement to fully open the valve.
