outbox vs senbtbox

What is the "outbox" vs the "sentbox"? I figure if I send something, it should be "out", right?

The only difference I can think of is that I have not gotten any replies from any of the PM's sitting in the "outbox". Are they sitting there waiting to go out?

The outbox are PM's that have never been picked up. If something is in the outbox, it normally suggests that someone has not been checking for PM's and you need to contact them some other way.
