Re: Whatere;d everyone go?

Nothing much as of late. I'm waiting on 4014 to come to my neck of the woods. I'm also prepping for an antique engine show.
I'm gonna be going around to both in this old sled.

I saw this neat clip. The fire department in a small Nebraska town puts on a show for the 4014.

Re: Big Boy IS going to Duluth this July

Because Union Pacific has enough lawyers, money, and lobbyists to brute force their will upon the government, like most large corporations.

Re: Locomotive that was Restored, but Never Run, Part II

Sorry, but looking at the pics, it has sat out long enough to need considerable work. It's not worth anywhere near the asking price. The boiler on its own pretty much has to be gone through again to be recertified.

Re: Thread for 4014 Videos - First Runs and Trip to Ogden

Yeah, some of the stuff said about him was just plain ridiculous. I did personally question the need to do additional work on 844, but once I saw the stuff that was wrong with her, I was shocked she was allowed to run at all. Previous steam crews really did operate under a "fly by the seat of y...

Re: Thread for 4014 Videos - First Runs and Trip to Ogden

From what I remember hearing, they just didn't get the gland packing set quite right on 4014 and ran out of time. In general, their ability to prepare was severely hampered by trying to get the Big Boy together at the last minute. This is basically the break-in run for the old girl; they only ran so...

4014 Out On The Main

I saw this video today. Union Pacific's #4014 managed to 'sneak' out last evening for a test run. Apparently they managed to get to Nunn, Colorado before she stopped and had to be drug back. They never did reach the wye. As best as I can understand, it seems they were having problems with the revers...

I'm not really surprised that people around there are being stupid. Most of them sing to the alma mater of Duelin' Banjos University.

Southern Pacific "The Kraut" #9010 Runs Again!

The last surviving Krauss Maffei ML4000C'C' diesel-hydraulic; Southern Pacific #9010 is now live at the Niles Canyon Railroad. She officially has the only Maybach MD870 in The United States if not all of North America. She was one of less than 20 of this class built for the Southern Pacific because ...

Re: So where the hexx is everybody?

No that's not an air compressor. That's an old hit and miss engine. We have a very larger modern air compressor though. ;)

Re: So where the hexx is everybody?

I've been playing with some old iron that I acquired recently. :)
Maybe I'll get an old steam engine or two to run off the air compressor.

Re: Knott's railroad has a proud heritage

I don't know how often they run this particular engine, but I'm an avid amusement park aficionado. I know enough about Knott's Berry Farm that I can tell you that they run their trains just about every operating day of the season. During the summer months I think Knott's is open just about every day.
