Re: Oregon Coast Crawler, Garibaldi to Batterson

Jim, would you believe in just a couple of weeks we've filled 25% of this train? And that's with added capacity this year! Mark, the train follows the coastline along the bays up to Wheeler... the inland is the coast range foothills, very green and lush. It follows the Nehalem River for quite a ways...

Re: Mt. Rainier Scenic tripleheader

I think the grade is 2-3%... we climbed up from Mineral Lake, you can also go another half hour or so down the other side to a large wooden trestle just before a washout on the way to Morton. Sometimes trips go to that trestle, thus go up the grade to Divide from the other direction as well. If anyo...

Re: Mt. Rainier Scenic tripleheader

Yes, MRSR and the Chehalis-Centralia are both old Milwaukie Road- going all the way to Freighthouse Square in Tacoma. But I don't know where they got the car, likely a local collector.

Re: Mt. Rainier Scenic tripleheader

No, it's not the Continental Divide... I'm guessing it's the Mt Rainier watershed vs. the St Helens watershed. It's basically the 'top of the grade' between Morton and Elbe.

As for the concession car, I do not know the history- it's been completly redone inside.

Re: Mt. Rainier Scenic tripleheader

We did several runbys- no one near as many as originally envisioned, but each took some setup. We got as far as the top of the grade at Divide. No, that was the OCSR's #2 Heisler, not this #2 :)
