Re: Not Much Railroading Going On These Days

At least the Twin Cities and Western is just as busy as it always is. A friend of mine who works there says it's just about the same and they're moving mostly agriculture products. I just saw a BNSF powered westbound grain train yesterday and they're usually 110 cars. Hopefully business will pick up...

Re: Soo Line 2719 sold back to Duluth museum

Mark, Here's an article from the Duluth News Tribune about the engine. It sounds like its still in good condition and that it will have a renewed boiler license as soon as engine #332's license expires in 12 years. https://www.duluthnewstribune.com/news/4735351-Soo-Line-engine-will-remain-with-the-L...

Re: Has anyone here...

Mark,
I suppose you could go by yourself to see it. Who knows when it will come back here again.
Otherwise, on Friday the train leaves at 8:30 am if you want to see it at the shop.

Here is their schedule with a link to track it too.

Re: Has anyone here...

Mark, You should be able to enter SPUD from the dropoff point on Kellog Blvd. Once inside go to the right, I believe, to get on an elevator which will take you up to an area between the concourse and the main building. Then go all the way to the end of the concourse to Gate C. Go to the left and tak...

Re: Choo-Choo time in Minnesota Last Weekend

Mark,

I can still remember about 10 years ago when I was with you at the shop before a trip. This young man came around and started snacking on the food in the tool car and neither of us knew who he was.

I'm not sure whether or not the 4014 can make it to St. Paul like the Challenger. I'm hoping it can.

Re: 4014 Schedule Article for 2019, Trains Magazine

Mark, You might be able to see it if it comes to St. Paul, like the the Challenger did. I myself chased the Challenger from Owatanna to Northfield and rode it from St Paul to Des Moines. I also saw it when it was on display in St. Paul and then chased it from Shakopee to Mankato. You wouldn't believ...

Re: Minneapolis and future Light Rail

With the Southwest LRT running in a few years. I myself might be using it to go to the 261 shop for one their trips. I could park in Eden Prairie, load the bike on the light rail car, and then bike to the shop from one of the stops In downtown Minneapolis, which is just about 2 miles. To answer John...

Re: Santa Train Again at SPUD

Mark, The camera is located just east of the North Pole village at the railfan picnic area. So when the middle of the train stops at the North Pole, the camera shows the tender and the first car. Here is a link to the camera. You can at least see the engine pulling to a stop about 10 minutes after d...
