Re: Old Stuff

Wow, you were at Steamtown's grand opening, Fitz? You're a lucky fella. I did not know Steamtown had moved to Scranton until 1995, a year too late to have asked to go by there on a family trip east in 1994.

My First Photos Of The New Year--And New Decade

Inspired by Burlington John, I chose Progressive Rail's Eagandale Line, a former Milwaukee Road route, for my own first railfan photos of not only the new year but also the new decade. Today I found the line's power parked down by Gopher Resource in Eagan. CEFX 1558 is an SW1500, and GMTX 302 an MP1...

Re: First Picture o f 2020

The locomotive is a GP39-2 in a classic GP30 body. I love steam as much as any railfan, but I always have time for diesels, especially old ones, or ones that retain their classic shape, like this baby.

Re: Intermodal Steam

Steam finished down there in 1986 according to the Crab Orchard & Egyptian's Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crab_Orchard_and_Egyptian_Railway The railroad itself is thriving thanks to good old Progressive Rail, a railroad that lives up to its name and then some. :)

Re: Best looking Hudsons .... ever

Quite frankly, I love the Burlington's, New York Central's, and Milwaukee Road's Hudsons equally, including the streamlined ones. My love of trains is downright polyamorus. :)

Wow. That is a fallen flag photo for the books. Amazing an NP waycar retained its paint as late as 1981.

I caught the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train when it was westbound on the Paynesville Subdivision shortly after 3:30 P.M. today. I made the catch at Cheshire Parkway in Plymouth, MN. Re: Amtrak In The Street, 1993

No, the video is not mine (I was only thirteen in 1993, and I did not get out of state much).
A portion of track remains by an old depot located on Fifth, but the trains were rerouted off the street late in 1994.

Amtrak In The Street, 1993

Back in the day, the Monon Railroad ran down Fifth Street in Lafayette, Indiana. CSX and Amtrak continued to operate on the line until 1994, when a reroute took the trains off Fifth Street. Here is a link to a video of Amtrak's Hosier State on Fifth, from 1993: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_lYQT...
