Williams Grove running new locomotive tomorrow

Hey all, For those on this list that live close to South Central PA. I know that it is very short notice, but I wanted to let anyone know that is interested; the Williams Grove Railroad will be running it's "new" locomotive for the first time in passenger service tomorrow, Sunday April 10,...

Re: State authority over railroads (?)

Another thing that will generally put you under FRA authority is if you cross any public roadways at grade. Generally if you run entirely on private property the FRA will leave you to the state for regulation. You are only regulated by one of the other though, if FRA claims jurisdiction the state ha...

Re: Tracking Down 611 Rumor

I don't think NS has anything to say about if 611 ever runs again since they never held title to her. 1218 I think would be a different story. I'm not sure who currently has title to 1218, does the museum have ownership? The fact is 1218 is an unlikely candidate due to amount of work needed to opera...

Thanks from the crew of 643 and the WGHSEA

Just wanted to send a quick thanks out to everyone who came out to support the Williams Grove Historical Steam Engine Association and PRR B4a #643 this past weekend. The 2nd annual train show was a great success, with attendance up from last year’s inaugural show. 643 ran great in her first 2 days...

Hey all: Thanks to B&O for all his kind words. We'd love to see you Mark D., anytime you are in the area let us know, at the very least we'll show you around even if 643 is cold. As to offering folks a chance to fire, yeah, it's something we may do in the future. Right now we are training some o...

Re: Want to run a PRR Steamer this weekend?

We will be offering it again later in the summer. We do not have any firm dates for them yet. Now that most of the mechanical issues have been worked out on 643 I'm going to be pushing the powers that be to set some dates so we can give you folks out there some time to plan vacations, days off work,...

Re: What's bigger Yellowsones or Big Boys?!!!

My point was this; the word never is a total absolute. I agree, that chances are it will never happen, if I was asked to rate the chances of a Big Boy ever running again from 1 to 10 I'd give it a -11. But a close-minded "never" becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Most steam locomotive restorations,...

Re: What's bigger Yellowsones or Big Boys?!!!

Never say never! I think it is unlikely anytime soon, but you never know, many people would have thought that 3985 would never run again, and she has been back in steam more then 20 years. 1218 was with us only a short time, but again, most would have said we would never see an A again. All it would...

Re: Which restored steam locomotive has the most miles on?

And since it has never been retired 844's most recent work would really just be a heavy shopping, it just took longer then it would have 50 years ago.
