Re: Added some 261 images.

The third person on the service crew might possibly be Don Abbott.
NKP 765 crewmember, Kelly Lynch, was there that weekend.

There's more than that. I've got pics, but I don't think I should post 'em here...

I've gotten that view through the windshield of a P42 before.

Re: Milw. 261 back on its feet

Steve wanted to make sure that everything stayed lined up so no one would have to go under the locomotive while it was supported by the cranes. It worked out very well. The first rotation of the drivers after the rods were put on was a little bit tough, but once they found their center distance they...

Re: Milw. 261 back on its feet

The temps were in the mid teens.
For the most part, the shop is not heated, but we have a couple of turbo heaters that will warm up the area where we are working.
I'll try get a couple of pics up later.

Re: Amtrak's 40th Anniversary Display Train

Mark, The last non-P42 we had on a 261 trip was AMTK #518, a GE P32BWH. It was used for the 2008 MIlwaukee excursions. I have a photo, but it's too big to upload here. As recently as July 2010 I have seen this engine in Chicago, switching in the coach yard, with it's Hiawatha herald still displayed ...

Re: Train Festival - Anyone from here go there?

Mark, I'm sure you'll be surprised to hear that I rode the tool car on all 3 daylong trips. Got to ride behind 765 and 6988. (also the Amtrak diesels) It was a long hot week. Had a couple of issues with the fleet, but we got 'em ironed out after a couple days, then everything ran just fine. Had quit...

Re: Friends of 261 Passenger Cars

Sorry Fitz, the dome is back here in Saint Paul. Justin Young was with the car while out West. We have to tune up a couple of things before Trainfestival. It might get hot in Rock Island so we want the A/C working perfectly. We'll be busy getting the whole fleet ready to go. Another one of our main ...

Re: Question about 4449 schedule

This trip to Chicago shows to be on the BNSF, which does not bring the train through Milwaukee.
Hope this helps.

Re: Hello - Anybody home?

BNSF pretty much dispatches everything through St. Paul, but there are a few exceptions. CP does handle the Merriam Park Sub though.

Re: Hello - Anybody home?

I was kind of thinking the same as Mark. Not much traffic here. Unfortunately I don't have much to add, unless you want to hear about needle scaling or wire brushing. Train traffic-wise I have been hearing some ICE and DM&E being dispatched by the BNSF East Hump here in Saint Paul. Probably has ...
