Re: Anti-graffiti coating??

Well, Fitz, that's probably a really good idea except someone has to be there 24/7 to run the things. And, that method makes a really nasty mess that someone has to clean up. Since nobody's able or willing to be there that much, I figure that the vandals are inevitable. So, I want to come up with a ...

Re: Anti-graffiti coating??

Added to the above query, I'm thinking of trying some sort of silicone, but that can make it pretty difficult to perform desired painting tasks later on.

Re: Early cab signaling

I received a set of Audel's numbers 4 through 9 yesterday. Yep, 8 is included in that. Haven't had a chance to read it yet, but from a quick glance it looks like exactly the information I was looking for. Excellent series of books! Wife found them on ebay. Great condition. Thanks for the pointer Mar...

Anti-graffiti coating??

Wondering if anyone out there has had any success using any type of spray or brush on coating over painted surfaces (such as railroad passenger cars) so paint from vandals doesn't stick and can be more easily removed without harming the original paint.
Thanks,

The 261 trips this weekend. Things that don't really matter

Well, good ol' 261 went and did it again. So, for those willing to torture themselves by reading it, here are some thoughts I have about it. Milw. 261, still representing the Milwaukee Road today, (Apparently that engine isn't aware the Milwaukee Road is no more) pulled a train of 12 cars and one po...

Babysat the beast all night again

261 is hot again, ready for the weekend trips down the Mississippi River. So, of course, someone has to be with the old beast all the time. I was lucky once more and got to head into the Cities last night to take over that duty at about 10:00. The engine was still in the "house" and had no appliance...

Nice photo Fitz.
Looks like that day was railfan heaven.
That big Berk epitomizes the true meaning of the moniker "Superpower."

Re: New Website

Easy there, Len. I'm not trying to be hard on him. I do think too much advertising is too much advertising, and voiced my opinion as such. There was no internet when I was 15, thank goodness. I was doing productive things. Learning to build engines, electronic devices, getting into amateur radio, hi...

Chinese QJ engines

I can't remember... Are the QJ's 2-10-0, 2-10-2 or 2-10-4?
I know they're 2-10- somethingorother.
Thanks, Mark D.

I've got my wife watching ebay for these books. So far, no vol. 8.
But it'll show up eventually.

Re: New Website

Yeah, I didn't see anything either. I was surprised, since I think I recall seeing in an earlier post on this forum that Len Shaner is involved in that site. I would have thought he'd have made a post by now. My memory tells me that in years past people starting new web sites have always been allowe...

Re: Early cab signaling

Thanks both of you
Roger, that link is very informative. It gives some insight on the earliest systems. One thing is sure...They're 100% completely different from what's being used today. I need to keep digging. The electronics involved is what I'm trying to learn about.
Thanks

Yep, if that's what it takes to go back to steam, I'd rather see them stay diesel.
