Biked to Newport, got to see a few trains.

Postby alco636 » Thu May 05, 2011 9:53 pm

Tuesday May 3rd was a sunny day here in the Twin Cities. I had planned to have it off for a while and go for a long bicycle ride. Got a hold of a friend in Newport, and decided to visit. Newport was about 29 miles one way from where I'm at in Fridley. Ended up being just over 60 miles for the day.

#1 The CP Newport Patrol is arriving. Full five man crew and caboose. The crewman on the left is giving me a friendly wave. There are two pedestrian bridges in town over 61, and the BNSF/CP tracks.

#2 A BNSF EB came flying by fast. Photography can be a challenge with all the poles and wires.

#3 Shortly after the BNSF train flew by, I noticed another headlight. The lights looked odd, and to my surprise, it was Amtrak. It was about 2:30 in the afternoon. Kinda late... Over six hours IIRC.

Had a fun day.

I don't know everyone, but everyone seems to know me...
