Hi all,
I thought if the moderator doesn't object, i would put some building pics in here of our 3 3/4 inch steamer. The owner (Jack) wanted a more scale appearing cab and our builder (Mel) undertook the challange. Here is the pic of the start. The cab makes it look like a phone booth on a boiler. More to come?

I think it's "cute." Sort of looks like a childrens storybook engine. Cool.

Re: New cab and controls for the SR&CL Ry #10
Quite an interesting little project. What kind of whistle is that on there? I think it's a Buckeye 3 chime, but I may be wrong. It just looks about the right size.
All Aboard!!!
Re: New cab and controls for the SR&CL Ry #10
The whistle is home built from plans in Live Steam Magazine.. It is close to what was on B&SR #7 as that is what the article was about.

We moved the Johnson bar back to shorten the reach for it and had to lenghten the reach rod, moved the cyclinder cock drain lever back and had to make a jog in it to go around the injector line.
A shot of the left side injector and some of the air pump.

Another task was to add air cooler lines to the air system.

Another task was to put in levers to control the water valves to the injectors. The valves are mounted to the frame and the plumbing waits for the tank to come back from the fabricator. The air brake line was mounted to the frame and hooked to the truck in the top photo.

Some shots of the cab interior. The copper lines in the front of the cab are for the air sanders. They are controlled by the blue lever in the top left of the cab. The air brake lever is on the left also. The big black resevoir in the cab left front is for the sanders. It holds a shot for the first big puff. The big ring is for the whistle. On the side of the cab by the door window is the water vavle handles.
